Keep the skills progressing over summer

The summer break is the perfect time to take part in consecutive lessons over four or five days. The repetition enables retention of key swimming concepts, resulting in rapid progression. Plus it’s a fun holiday activity and keeps kids in a structured routine.

    Toddler - School Age Level 2

    These classes are all about establishing children's familiarity of the water by practising paddle hands, leg kicks, floating and safe entry and exit from the water. As the class progresses, focus moves to unassisted skills and the development of water treading and the freestyle stroke.

    Levels 3 - 5

    Classes focus on stroke technique across freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke. Later stages introduce survival strokes, diving and endurance in preparation for squad levels.

    Classes are designed to refine technique, test endurance, increase fitness and develop rescue skills. These levels introduce butterfly.

    Intensive Carnival Squad

    Kids learn skills to participate in a race so that they can achieve their personal best and help to minimise the nerves often involved in participating in a race for the first time. Sessions focus on race starts and diving off the block, relay changeovers, stroke development and turns.

    NEW: Stroke Specific Clinics

    This year stroke specific clinics will be run in the shortened Week 1 to drill down into skills kids often have difficulty mastering.

    • breaststroke
    • learn how to do butterfly
    • refine your freestyle and backstroke
    • or based on need/demand. (If you have a specific request, please contact Swim School on 94418227 to discuss.)

    Work on your weakest stroke with some targeted classes and then reinforce those skills by enrolling in the following Holiday Swim week in your regular level, or be ready to restart the Continuous Swim School Program when classes recommence in February 2025.

    Clinic times are also staggered so it is possible to combine two clinics into an hour long session on the same mroning.
